101 (more or less) things you never knew you wanted to know about the everyday housewife, a.k.a. Bunni

1. I was born in November 1953. I am a Scorpio.

2. I made my Grand Entrance at a Hospital in a suburb of Toronto, Canada. I weighed 6 lbs. 4 oz.

3. I am the oldest of 6 children, 5 still living.

4. I grew up an only daughter.
I had a sister who was born prematurely 20 months after me but she passed away after only a few short hours of fighting for her life.
Her name was Deborah Susan.

5. I grew up wanting a sister but Mom and Dad kept bringing home boys.

6. We moved around a lot when I was growing up.
In 14 years of school, K through 13, I went to nine different schools. The amazing thing is I went to one high school for 5 years, grades 9-13. That means K-8, 9 years, I went to 8 different schools.

7. I hated changing schools. I was unbearably shy.

8. I did well all through school, always on the Honour Roll, always in the top 1% of my classes.
I was a geek, a nerd, still am.
The other kids hated me. They always hated the smart kids.

9. Best times of my childhood include report card time. That was when my Daddy affirmed he loved me and how proud he was of me.
The rest of the time I thought he loved his sons more than me.

10. My Mom and I always shared a very close relationship. She was the best friend I ever had.

11. I have been married twice.

12. I have two beautiful children, a daughter and a son. I adore them both.
They both weighed the same as me when they were born.
My daughter’s middle name was given to honour my baby sister.

13. My favourite colour is PINK.

14. My favourite animal is the bunny.
B is for Bunni
I have little bunny things all around our yard, deck and home. My nickname is Bunni.

15. My favourite saying is: Why am I in this handbasket and where are we going?!

16. I started driving when I was 16.
I got my licence just before my 18th birthday. I was in no hurry.
I flunked my first driver’s test.

17. In my 30+ years of driving I’ve never had or been involved in a serious car accident.
I have, however, had 3 fender-benders and only the first one was my fault, or so they said.

18. My hobbies and spare time activities include photography, computers, reading, cross-stitch and TV/movies.
I’ve never been a very crafty person although I have created a chickabillion various and sundry craft projects.
I made a slipper once …

19. I have been at least slightly overweight most of my life.

20. I’ve worn prescription eyeglasses since I was 10. I am near-sighted.

21. Growing up I was envious of my brothers. They got to do neat stuff like cut the grass.
I got to do dishes and vacuuming.

22. I love the outdoors. I love to cut grass and take walks in the woods. Photographing nature is my passion.

23. My idea of the best Sunday afternoon is to go for a drive in the country.

24. I prefer country living to city living although having a store handy is nice.

25. I am an accountant by profession but I lost all joy in the work when computers came along.
Hunting for that dime was always a challenge.

26. Coming from a family of males I found it necessary to be as feminine as possible.
That’s why I prefer long hair and girlie clothes for myself. Amazingly enough, in spite of all the male influences, I have never been a tomboy.

27. My favourite season is Spring. My least favourite is Winter although I love a good snowstorm.

28. I love the water.
Growing up along the shores of Lake Ontario, swimming, boating, water skiing, etc were all favourite Summer activities and I always had a good tan.

29. I never thought I’d move away from my roots, my parents, my lifelong home area.

30. I find geneology fascinating. My Dad is still the family historian.

31. I am an impatient person but I’m slowly learning to curb that. I can’t wait till I’ve succeeded.

32. I like to keep busy. Inactivity frustrates me, makes me impatient.

33. I am a cat person although I’ve had two dogs in my life, Sparky and Jakie, who I adored.
I have no pets now. I couldn’t take it again, holding them in my arms while the life slowly left their bodies.

34. I’ve always wanted to learn how to play the guitar. It’s one of my dreams.

35. Another of my dreams is to write, perhaps short stories and someday a novel of fiction.

36. I love food, all food. There isn’t much I won’t eat, except maybe liver and anchovies.

37. My favourite snack is a peanut butter and Miracle Whip sammich but I’m happy with PB and bananas, PB and cheese, PB and jam … but it’s got to be crunchy PB.

38. My favourite non-alcoholic drink is milk.

39. My favourite alcoholic drink, although I seldom indulge, is peach Schnapps and orange juice.

40. My favourite meal of the day is breakfast.

41. I still have a Cabbage Patch Kid of my own. She’s a newborn. I can’t remember her name.

42. I can read and speak French although lack of practice has made me forget a lot of it.

43. I’ve never played much sports but I found I excelled at softball and bowling. I played each in women’s leagues for 5 years and have many trophies.

44. My favourite scents tend to be fruity as opposed to flowery.

45. I don’t think I’m vain. Although I always wanted to be pretty, I’ve always believed myself fairly plain. I don’t wear makeup. I always figured it wouldn’t help. And I’m ok with that.

46. My favourite perfume is (currently) ‘Beyond Paradise’ by Estee Lauder. It’s very expensive. I could only afford a small purse-sized container. Most of the time I forget to put it on anyways.

47. I like my skin clean and soft and fresh-smelling. I like Oil of Olay body wash and lotion. I take good care of my skin. Part of wanting to be feminine, I guess.

48. Pet peeve – People whose bodies and/or hair don’t smell clean.

49. I try always to remember birthdays and anniversaries, especially family members.

50. The perfect evening for me is to lie under a blanket on the sofa with my little husband watching TV.

51. I would love to travel. I’ve seen Canada from Ontario west to Vancouver and Victoria on Vancouver Island. The farthest east I’ve been is Montreal, Quebec. I have never been to the eastern Canadian provinces. I’ve vacationed in Hawaii, Cancun, Dominican Republic and Disney World in Orlando, Florida. I went with my hubby to San Diego, California on a business trip a couple years ago. I’d like to see Australia and Wales before I die, to mention just a few. I would also like to visit all 10 Canadian provinces and all 50 American states. So far I’ve been to 6 Canadian provinces and 17 American states.

52. I like to hear the sound of rain on the roof when I am in bed. I find it soothing.

53. I consider myself borderline O.C.D. Many who know me well would agree. *chuckle*

54. I don’t have many ‘wants’ anymore. I just want my children and my husband to love me.

55. I started a blog ’cause I thought it might be therapeutic to ‘talk’ about things. I cherish the friendships I’ve made through my blog.

56. When it comes to my home I like things neat and clean. I don’t need expensive homes and furniture to be comfortable but neat and clean are a must.

57. I prefer small cars to big cars. I like to zip around and through traffic. I like to park with a minimum of fuss.

58. The only piercings I have are my ears, 2 holes in each one. I have no tattoos although I consider getting a tiny little bunny put on my ankle. Trouble is all the rabbits I’ve seen are Playboy bunnies and they are just soooo inappropriate for this old body.

59. I’ve always gotten along better with men than with women. I’m not sure why that is but it just IS.

60. I have but one very best friend, and I married him in 1998.

61. I’ve never had a lot of friends but the ones I had were good friends, close friends. I was never popular or the center of attention. I loathe being the center of attention. I’m more comfortable being a wallflower. I’m not a mixer and I abhor crowds. I am still shy.

62. I’ve gotten out of touch with my high school girlfriends. I miss them and think of them often. One still lives back home, as far as I know. The other I lost track of after she moved from Victoria, B.C. to Williams Lake, B.C. Sad.

63. I have two very beautiful and adorable grandchildren, a boy and a girl. I keep photos of them handy at all times and when I look at them I smile and my mind wanders …

64. Chocolate or vanilla? Most assuredly definitely absolutely and positively chocolate!

65. My favourite pizza is Hawaiian. I love the extra cheese, ham and pineapple. My hubby, who is one-half Italian, thinks I’m nuts!

66. I love to take photographs. My favourite subjects are in Nature, both flora and fauna.

67. Things that take my breath away include being in the presence of mountains, vast bodies of water (oceans), and live music and theater. All of those will bring tears to my eyes.

68. According to what my daughter told me earlier today, I am stubborn. Hmm… I AM NOT! LOL!

69. Pet Peeve – People who are continually negative in their thoughts and speech.

70. I like roller coasters including the new ones that turn you upside down.

71. With respect to my wardrobe, I own more baggy t-shirts than any other article of clothing. I like lacy underwear and I like pink tops and bottoms. I am more comfortable in cool/cold weather clothes than warm weather clothes. I prefer jeans to shorts, sweaters to tanks.

72. I collect watches. I have quite a few, many colours, but right now only a few work. I must get batteries….

73. I don’t care much for jewelry other than maybe a nice ring and a gold chain. I don’t like big gaudy jewelry. I like dainty stones on narrow bands, dainty chains. I prefer 10k gold to 14k or more. It’s much more sturdy.

74. I like many types of music including country, pop, jazz, classic rock, calypso, doo wop, latin and new age. I choose my music according to the mood I’m in and same goes for the volume. I like loud rock music on the XM for housework and MP3 player for yard work, and things like soft new age (Secret Garden, Enya, Yanni) for reading or pootering. I always have music on in the car, mostly CD’s, and I like it energetic and loud, for the most part. My favourite songs are ones that remind me of things/events in my life.

75. My favourite movie is City of Angels with Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan. I’ve seen it a dozen times and I always cry.

76. My favourite movie genre is science fiction, preferably futuristic stuff.

77. I almost hate to admit it but I like accordian and bagpipe music.

78. Both times I was pregnant I craved Chinese food. My Mom used to say it was a wonder my children weren’t born with slanted eyes and yellow skin.

79. Beef, pork, fowl or seafood? Yes, yes, yes and yes! I generally try to eat more chicken than anything but pork is my favourite. I’m not a big fish lover but I like shrimp, lobster and swordfish.

80. Coke or Pepsi? Neither, if possible, but if I had to choose it would be Pepsi. My favourite soft drink is Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper.

81. The colour of my eyes is hazel, I guess, brown near the center and green on the outsides.

82. Two things make me very mellow, having my hair brushed and my back scratched.

83. My natural hair colour is brown with red highlights. I say ‘natural’ ’cause recently I have tried using permanent hair colour to cover the gray. These attempts have resulted in my hair being more red than brown. Nice colour now though. Caramel, I guess you’d call it.

84. I like baby things – baby children, baby bunnies, baby birdies – but I would never eat baby meat like veal or lamb. I just can’t do it.

85. I love vegetables! All of them! Mom never had to bribe me to clean up my vegetables! More spinach, please!

86. In my teenage years I was horse-crazy. We couldn’t afford one but that didn’t make me want one any less. I would go to the local riding stables and ride. I wanted a horse so bad it hurt. I still love to watch the horse shows at the local country fairs back in Ontario.

87. I used to bite my nails. I chewed them off all through my high school years. Then one day when I was about 20 years old I decided to stop doing it. I never did it again.

88. I’m a Type ‘A’ perfectionist who puts great demands on myself. I never achieve perfection but I sure work hard in the attempt.

89. One of the worst moments of my life was when I found out my Mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. The very worst day of my life was the day she passed away. :cry:

90. One of the best moments of my life was when we were told Mom’s cancer was all but eradicated after her first session of chemo and radiation.

91. I shower every day and after my shower I clean my ears with Q-Tips. Only Q-Tips brand. I clean the right ear first, then the left. Cleaning the left one makes me cough.

92. I have a wicked sense of humour and I’m quick to impart it. It comes from years of insecurity and hides a world of fears.

93. I am 5 feet 5 inches tall. I am the shortest among my siblings. Of course, the other four are guys.

94. My favourite candy bar is Cadbury Caramilk (Canada) or Hershey’s Smores (USA).

95. My favourite potato chip is Ruffles Sour Cream & Onion. Unfortunately down here in the USA they are very skimpy with the sour cream.

96. I prefer coffee to tea although I like both. Years ago, I drank as many as 30 cups of coffee a day. Now I restrict myself to two in the morning.

97. I put my pants on right leg first. When putting on socks and/or shoes I put the left one on first.

98. I love live theater. I have been to the Stratford Shakespearean Festival in Stratford, Ontario several times. I have also been to the Pantages Theater in Toronto to see Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Phantom of the Opera’, twice. It was breathtaking.

99. I am overly sensitive, easily hurt, but I’ll do my level best not to let you see it.

100. I can be very trusting but if you should misuse/abuse my trust it will take a long, long time for you to get it back, if ever.

101. I have a terrible tendency to procrastinate. That’s why it’s taken so long to finish this list! LOL!
