B and B’s 2004 News

Bear Hi, Everyone! Bunni

January:
First, I joined the Vandalia Recreation Center (hereafter VRC) and finally got back into an exercise program. The VRC is almost brand new and offers features like pool, rock climbing, exercise equipment of every sort and description, and exercise classes of every sort and description for all ages. I love to swim so I take what is called a Shallow Water Workout mainly because I go with a friend who doesn’t swim and insists on staying in shallow water. The pool includes a water slide, a hot tub and an amazing whirlpool area where we start our water aerobics class, generally working against the incredible flow of water. Quite a feat for we ‘old’ girls. My friend is 63 years old and it would appear that, at 50 years of age, I am the youngest regular member of the class. In any case, I get a great workout and I thoroughly enjoy myself. Our class is run twice per week, on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, one hour workouts each day.

It’s been a cold January here, not that unusual I am told. we’ve had some snow and at this point, first day of February, we have about 3 inches on the ground. Naturally our furnace took this coldest time of year to break down. The thermo-cabobbler gave up the ghost on a Friday night about 11pm. Temperature inside the house at the time was 60 degrees f. The furnace man couldn’t come out until Saturday morning so we snuggled up in our heated bed and stayed nice and warm until the next morning. It was 50 degrees F when we got up that morning. We put the gas range oven on to heat the kitchen before he came and we had it at a quite comfortable 67 when he got here. We usually run the furnace thermostat at 66-67 so we were happy. Furnace man only took a few minutes to replace the faulty part and relight the pilot and we were in business again. All warm and toasty since. But doesn’t it just figure???!!!

Bear spent his spare time working on his PDA apps. He even created a special app based on one of his others for one customer in the UK to use. Bear also keeps active in our TCH Forums and was promoted to Moderator this past week. Congratulations, Bear! (I’m his biggest fan, can’t you tell?)

I guess that’s about it for here for January of 2004.

We hope it’s been a good month for you and a great start to a prosperous, happy and healthy year 2004!

May
- My trip to Iowa, May 5-12. I spent a week with my pregnant daughter, Brandy, my son-in-law David and my little grandson, Blake. We ate a lot of fast foods and spent a lot of time shopping in Super Wally. It was great, just my kind of holiday! The highlight of the trip was going to the obstetrician with them and watching my first ultrasound being done. While Brandy was hoping for another boy, David and I were sure it would be a baby girl this time. David and I were right! And it was another excuse to hit the Super Wally. We had to buy pink things!
- May 16th – started a diet.

June
- uneventful (flower beds, flower pots)
- June 27th – visited Charleston Falls Preserve, hiked and got some great photos
- I took the summer off from the VRC water aerobics classes because I couldn’t take the screaming kids that were out of school for the summer.

July
- Our trip to Ontario, July 8-13. The occasion – to celebrate my Dad’s 75th birthday on July 11th. We all congregated that day at Randy and Judy’s place in Carrying Place for the festivities. It was the first time in many many years that all five of us kids were together in one place. Mom and Dad were in their glory.
Those in attendance included Bear and myself and my son Adam; Randy, Judy, Andrew, Amy; Joe and daughter Jodi from Maple Ridge, (Vancouver) British Columbia; Steve and Ludy from Calgary, Alberta; Ted and three of his four children, Mary, Eric and Spencer; Aunt Bonnita from Kingsville, Uncle Gordon from Guelph. We barbecued ‘burgs and dogs, ate salads, drank pop, and gabbed to catch up on the news from each others lives. Dad received many nice gifts and we all enjoyed some birthday cake. Bear and I made a DVD video of the celebration and copies can be obtained by contacting either one of us.
- Bear celebrated his 49th birthday on the 13th! Poor guy, he spent it driving 550 miles
from Ontario to Ohio.

August
- Too hot and humid!
- August 7th – played a round of Adventure Golf on one of the cooler, less humid days
- August 30 – 12:18pm Central Time – Granddaughter Emma Marie was born in Sioux City, Iowa weighing in at 7 lbs., 7 ounces and measured 19.5 inches long.

September
- On Labour Day weekend, Sept. 4th to be exact, Bear’s parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with surprise festivities in Sharon, PA. DVD video and photographs can be obtained by contacting either Bear or myself.
- On Tuesday after Labour Day, Sept. 7th, I started back to VRC water aerobics, twice a week.

And that pretty much completes 2004!

Bye for now!
